Ph to host ASEAN confab on drug use prevention global standards
The ASEAN Training Center for Preventive Drug Education (ATCPDE) is organizing the ASEAN Conference on Drug Use Prevention International Standards on December 5-7, 2016 at the National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (NISMED), University of the Philippines campus in Diliman, Quezon City.
ATCPDE Director Prof. Francis Grace H. Duka-Pante said the conference will summarize the currently available scientific evidence on interventions and policies found to result in positive prevention outcomes and their characteristics. She added that global standards identify the major components and features of an effective national drug prevention system.
The conference will build on and recognizes the work of many organizations (e.g. EMCDDA, CCSA, CICAD, Mentor, NIDA, WHO) which have previously developed standards and guidelines on various aspects of drug prevention.
Conference outputs are expected to guide policymakers worldwide to develop programs, policies and systems that are truly effective investment in the future of children, young people, families and communities.
Participants are expected from ASEAN member-countries and from local schools and drug prevention professionals.
