DDB, ATCPDE to observe Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week on Nov 13-19

The Dangerous Drugs Board in collaboration with the Inter-Agency Council on Drug Abuse Prevention Education (IAC-DAPE), will once again spearhead the observance of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week (DAPC Week) on November 13-19, 2011.

This is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 124 issued on November 26, 2001, "Declaring the Third Week of November of Every Year as Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week." The theme of this year's observance is "Global Action for Healthy Community without Drugs."

Several activities have been lined up for the occasion including the Kick-Off Ceremony which will be highlighted by the float (pedicab) parade of the participating delegations.

The floats will use sidecars (pedicabs) decorated with indigenous and/or recyclable materials defining the theme. Likewise, mural painting contest will be conducted in selected schools in Metro Manila.

Stakeholder NGOs have been invited to send delegations to the Kick-Off Ceremony which will be held on November 14, 2011, Monday, 6:00 A.M. at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Delegations are also invited to join the Float Parade scheduled for the day. The biggest and most colorful delegation will receive cash prizes. (10nov2011)
